The re-structured Australian Standards Committee, TM – 010, that looks after revisions and editorial requirements for the Timber Framing Code (AS 1684) and the Timber Structures Code (AS 1720 series) held its first meeting in Melbourne on 31st July 2014. Two projects were endorsed by the Committee to progress. The first was revision od AS 1684.1 Design criteria for domestic and similar framed structures. This revision will align the standard with current loading codes and AS 1720 and will be published as a new part in the AS 1720 series. The second project will be development of a new timber roof truss design standard, also under the AS 1720 series. Advanced drafts of these new standards will be further developed up by technical sub-committees.
